Instruction
Jarett is originally from Michigan and currently lives in Denver, CO. He holds degrees in Movement Science and Athletic Training from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in Educational Administration from DePaul University. While living in Chicago he studied guitar, mandolin, music theory, and ear training at the Old Town School of Folk Music. After relocating to Colorado in 2010, he co-founded the band Chain Station and went on to balance a career that now combines steady touring with dedicated teaching.
With more than 20 years of experience teaching mandolin, guitar, bass, fiddle, ukulele, and piano, Jarett emphasizes solid technique and practical, applicable music theory. He incorporates students’ favorite songs into lessons to teach concepts in context, helping them develop the ability to play by ear, participate in jams, and understand music beyond notation alone. Lessons are offered at his North Denver home studio as well as at Swallow Hill Music in South Denver.
